A family bridal boutique in Carlisle, built around you

Carol's Bridal began with a simple belief: finding your wedding dress should feel every bit as special as wearing it. Since opening in Carlisle on 10 October 2010, we have helped nearly 2,000 brides feel understood, supported and completely themselves.

Today, Carol, her daughter Lauren and their experienced team welcome brides from across Cumbria, southern Scotland and beyond to a purpose-built boutique created around private, personal appointments.

Where it began

A life shaped by weddings

Carol Waggott's story in weddings began long before Carol's Bridal. At just 19, Carol entered the wedding industry alongside her mother, Ailsa Waggott. Together, they spent more than 20 years running a wedding hotel in Gretna, growing it from five bedrooms to 32 and from no weddings to as many as 450 celebrations a year.

Those years taught Carol that weddings are ultimately about people, trust and service. The idea for Carol's Bridal arrived while helping her sister-in-law shop for a wedding dress. The occasion should have felt unforgettable, but the experience did not offer the personal care Carol believed such an important moment deserved.

Carol saw an opportunity to do things differently: to create a boutique where brides were listened to, looked after and never treated like another transaction.

On 10 October 2010, Carol's Bridal opened at 19 Warwick Road. Carol deliberately placed her own name above the door. She wanted her reputation to be personal and to stand behind every experience the boutique provided.

“Bridal shopping should feel personal from the very first conversation.”

Our new home

Purpose-built around the bride

On 1 January 2026, Carol's Bridal opened the doors to its new home at 5 Warwick Road. The move was the result of a year spent rebuilding and reimagining the property around everything the family had learned from more than 35 years in weddings.

The final preparations became a true family effort, with Christmas Day the only day off as everyone painted, finished and prepared the boutique for its New Year opening.

The result is a modern, spacious and considered bridal boutique with two private bridal suites. Every detail has been designed to help brides settle in, feel comfortable and enjoy the experience without distraction.

  • Two private bridal suites
  • Personal one-to-one stylist
  • Up to four guests
  • No commission and no pressure

The Appointment Experience

Your time, entirely yours

01

Settle in

Meet your stylist, enter your private suite and choose from Prosecco, No-secco or water.

02

Start with you

Talk through your wedding, preferences, concerns and anything you already know—or do not yet know—about your dress.

03

Discover your style

Your stylist selects an initial edit of dresses, learns from every try-on and gradually refines the collection around you.

04

Your yes moment

Once you say 'yes' to the dress, the team takes measurements, arranges the order and payment plan, discusses trusted local seamstresses and celebrates with photographs and a complimentary gift bag.

No need to know your silhouette, fabric or neckline before you arrive. Your stylist will guide that discovery, with particular care for nervous or body-conscious brides.

"Carol made us feel completely at ease and made the whole experience feel so personal."

Ivy Grace, a collection with family at its heart

Ivy Grace is Carol's Bridal's own exclusive label, designed and curated by our team and available nowhere else. Its name belongs to the next generation of the family—Ivy Grace is Lauren's daughter and Carol's granddaughter.

The collection brings together everything the team has learned from working closely with brides: thoughtful shapes, beautiful detailing and dresses selected for how they make a bride feel, not simply how they look on a hanger.

Beyond the boutique

From your yes moment to your wedding morning

Dress the Bride is an exclusive service available only to Carol's Bridal brides. Before the wedding, the team professionally steams the dress and carefully delivers it to the venue. On the morning itself, a member of the Carol's team is there to help the bride into her gown, arrange every detail and make the final preparations feel calm and seamless.

The team even brings the Prosecco.

Pricing is based on the distance to the wedding venue. Brides can speak to the team for an individual quotation.

Recognition matters because it reflects the standards the team works towards, but the measure that matters most remains how a bride feels when she leaves the boutique.

Goodfellows Menswear began in a small room inside Carol's Bridal. As demand grew, it developed into a specialist menswear business in its own right and now sits alongside Carol's at 5 Warwick Road.

The two stores provide separate, expert experiences for brides and grooms while sharing the same family values: personal service, honest advice and genuine attention to detail.
